Spring~ Please Stay!

I still love Spring!  The bulbs starting to come up, no need for parkas and the warm sun on my face.  Sunday was insane....  87 degrees.  Seriously?  I didn't want to skip right to summer.  It is not unheard of to have only 10 days of temperate weather before the summer heat takes over, but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly.  The boys were thrilled with the heat.  They spent most of the day with the neighbor kids playing tag, hide and seek, kick ball.  It really was a welcome sight.  I love when the boys are asked to play up the street.  The doorbell rings, Ted goes mad and the neighbor boys at the door requesting my kids come play.  Really cute!

Sunday night brought thunderstorms.  However brief, it never fails to scare Nick.  He knocked on our door and climbed in bed to stay safe.  He holds vigil with his ipod and the weather app.  He only stayed 15 mins before he was back in his bed for the rest of the night.  The storms were the transition from summer back to winter.  Monday it was only 40 degrees.  From shorts to parkas we went.

I am so glad that Tuesday is warmer, again.  Much more springlike.  Golfers are out, so Ted must guard the backyard.  He is pretty sure the players are coming just to take his stuff.  He has taken to digging holes under the swing set and now near the house.  I am not convinced I won't find all sorts of treasures out there should I look.  Thankfully, (for me) the boys are getting trained on how to take Ted for much needed daily walks.  They are not sure this is such a good idea.  The walks aren't nearly long enough for me, but at least they are taking responsibility whether they like it or not.

We are back at Farrell's for the restarting of Tae Kwon Do.  Sadly, the boys have to restart back at the VERY beginning at white belts.  Hopefully, they will be able to survive the rookie treatment and enjoy the classes, again.  Master Miller is an amazing teacher, but some of the other teachers are super annoying.  I try not to be too transparent with my feelings, because I want the boys to be respectful, but Sam is vocal about not liking to go to class when Master Miller isn't teaching.  He did say that I could never let him quit, no matter what he said.  I should probably get that in writing.....

We don't have any other sports this spring.  I still wish Sam had decided to run track, but he said he was glad he wasn't because he thought it would be too competitive.  I look at that as positive, but he said he didn't want to be the kid who always finished last and had the pity cheers every race.  I can appreciate that.....  I do love track though.

My parents have new puppies.  Cutest ever English Bulldog puppies who need to eat every 3-4 hours just like a newborn.  Because Bulldogs are really not good mothers, they have to be separated except for feeding times.  So far the puppies are doing well, but the schedule may kill my parents.  I am glad my nephew is around right now to help with those pesky middle of the night feedings.  Their eyes should open in the next week or so.  They will look so much cuter and less like little rats.

Decorah Eagles, Ustream.TV: The Raptor Resource Project brings you ...

I have also been very addicted to checking on the Eagles in Decorah.  As of today, two of the three eggs have hatched.  We have witnessed "road kill" brought to the nest by the parent eagles for meals and the fluffy babies.  So amazing to watch nature that up close.

I continue to pray for friends who are struggling with health, death, divorce and depression.  It is hard to know what to say other than to tell each I am praying for them.  I wish I had more to offer, but I also truly believe prayer is the best thing I can do.  It just feels so trite and empty sometimes.

I am always amazed at how each year starts anew with Spring.  Rebirth, regeneration, renewal.  Each one of us can feel this.
